FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1) How are the plays advertised?
A short description of the play and the cover art of the playwright’s choice will be displayed on Plays on Tap. Stage Tribes also gives playwrights the option of posting their plays’ monologues to the Monologue Database. We see this free promotional material as the key to generating interest in the work and sales of the plays.
2) Does the playwright receive any payment for the sale of his/ her play?
Stage Tribes sells each play for $1.99. One dollar of this sale goes to the playwright and the rest of the money goes to transaction fees and server maintenance. Playwrights can make additional money through royalties from customers who wish to produce their plays. Stage Tribes will forward all performance inquiries directly to the playwrights so that they can negotiate performance royalties for their plays.
3) What happens if a playwright wants his/ her play to be represented by a different publishing company in the future?
If, at any time, a playwright wants to pull his/ her play from Stage Tribes, he/ she is able to do so. Clients who have already purchased the play will retain a digital copy, however, Stage Tribes will stop distributing that play to any new customers.
