Edgar Allan Poe is dead. His ex-friend, Dr. Rufus Griswold, compiles Poe's complete works for posthumous publication, while composing a spiteful obituary for the New York Herald. As he works, he is haunted by memories of his ruined friendship with Poe, and the tender ties that bind both men to Poe’s delightful young wife Virginia - for evermore.
